هو برنامج صوت وفيديو مجاني مفتوح المصدر حيث يعمل على تنسيق برامج الصوت والفيديو للعمل معا ، هذا كما يعمل على الحد من التشويش كما يستخدم لفك ترميز الملفات الصوتية بجميع صيغها ويستخدم كوسيلة لضغط ملفات الفيديو وذلك بتنقيتها وإزالة الزوائد كما انه برنامج مميز لاستخلاص الأفلام من اسطوانات الـ DVD، وتحويل الفيديو إلى امتدادات مختلفة.
يغطي ميديا كودر نطاقا واسعا من الامتدادات المختلفة لملفات الوسائط المتعددة، بحيث يمكن التحويل بين العديد من امتدادات ملفات الصوت والفيديو المختلفة.
يعطيك البرنامج تحكما كاملا في الملفات التي تعمل على معالجتها, حيث يمكنك التحكم في كل الشروط والشكل العام للملف الذي تريد التوصل إليه من حيث الحجم والمواصفات التقنية وأنواع المشغلات التي تريد الاستعانة بها في تشغيله
