قررت شركة فورد ايقاف انتاج الطراز التقليدي الناجح والمعروف بقلة اعطاله كراون فيكتوريا الذي لم يتم تجديد تصميمه منذ ان تم طرحه بشكله الحالي في العام 1998
وذلك تمهيدا لاحلال الطراز فورد تورس كبديل رسمي له حيث بدأت الشرطة الامريكيه التحول من طراز فورد كراون فيكتوريا الشهير الى الطراز تورس الذي
يعتمد خط الدفع الامامي او الرباعي في بعض الطرازات
وعلى صعيد اخر قررت شركة فورد موتور كومباني الامريكية الغاء ماركة ميركوري الشهيرة وذلك بسبب تداعيات الازمه المالية العالمية الذي القت بظلالها على قطاع السيارات وادت الى قلة الطلب على هذه السيارات داخل الولايات المتحدة وخارجها وذلك لتوفير النفقات والتركيز على ماركة فورد وماركة لنكولن الفخمة

Ford plans to end production of the Crown Victoria in August 2011, closing the Canadian plant that manufactures the car. With the end of production of the full-size rear wheel drive body-on-frame platform for the Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Town_Car), Ford is promoting the Ford Taurus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Taurus) and Lincoln MKS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_MKS) flagships for consumers. Ford is also promoting the Transit Connect Taxicab (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Transit_Connect#Taxicab) to replace the Crown Victoria for urban taxi cab usage.
On June 2, 2010, Ford announced that it would end production of all Mercury vehicles by the end of 2010 as it discontinues the brand after 72 years. The last Grand Marquis rolled off the assembly line on January 4, 2011, later than planned due to a delay in parts shipment.
