تم إضافة إمكانية استخدام جدار الحماية بشكل آني لأول مرة بين توزيعات لينكس Dynamic Firewall حيث أصبح بإمكان المستخدم أن يضيف أو يعدل قواعد جدار الحماية وستصبح هذه التعديلات قيد التنفيذ حالا دون الحاجة لإيقاف جدار الحماية أو إعادة تشغيله كما في السابق وهذا سيعطي مرونة كبيرة لمدراء الأنظمة , ولعله الإنجاز الأكبر في هذه الإصدارة
استبدال مدير النظام والجلسات Upstart بـ Systemd الأسرع والذي يحوي الكثير من الخصائص الجديدة
تم اعتماد نسخة النواة Kernel 3.6.38 وهي التي تحوي التسريع الخاص بالمهام المتعددة
أيضا لزيادة الحماية تمت إزالة SETuid قدر المستطاع من البرامج واستبدالها ب File Capabilites
إضافة BoxGrinder : وهي أداة تمكن المطور عبر سطر الأوامر من إنشاء Virtual Images خاصة بالعديد من المنصات الافتراضية (KVM, Xen ,Vmware ,EC2) .
إدارة طاقة أكثر كفاءة مع استخدام PowerTop التي يمكنها معرفة البرامج التي تستهلك كثيرا من الطاقة في حالة الخمول , أيضا تم إضافة دعم لأجهزة EEEPc , وستلاحظون الفرق عند استخدام البطارية على أجهزتكم المحمولة.
بالنسبة للنسخة الحية فهي تحوي على برامج أكثر من السابق بفضل استخدام تقنية الضغط LZMA حيث تم الضغط ب xz بدلا من gzip .
في البرامج المكتبية تم الاستغناء عن OpenOffice والتحول إلى LibreOffice
للمطورين : Maven 3 لمطوري Java , أيضا : Python 3.2 , OnRailes 3.0.5 , Gcc 4.6 .
نسخة جديدة من Rpm 4.9 حيث تم إضافة إدوات للتحقق من الحزم والتواقيع ولإدارة قواعد بيانات الحزم .
أسطح المكتب : KDE 4.6 , Xfce 4.8 .
